About me

Hello everyone and welcome to my little bubble, it‘s nice to have you here!

My name is Ris - short for Larissa - and I am a professional graphic designer and illustrator based in Germany. I was born September 29th.
I speak both German - which is my native language - and English on
a C2 level. Aside from those two I am currently also making baby steps attempting to learn some French.

As much as I would love to give you some crazy cool introduction to me as a person, I have to admit I am pretty easy going!

I really enjoy reading - mostly in english - fantasy, romantasy, dystopian science fiction, you name it. I have been a die-hard fan of The Maze Runner since 2014 and I don‘t think my obsession with it will ever die down lol. It admittedly has inspired elements of my own book that I am writing, as well -  which is something I haven‘t talked much about online, yet.

Aside from reading - and probably the most obvious - I am an art lover and artist myself. I have always loved drawing and wanted to be like my Dad, who had the most amazing talent. I started early on with pen on paper drawings, mostly humans, some animals here and there that I would try to trace off of his drawings to learn. It was my lifeline for many years and I even chose an art major in school.
Unfortunately, that lifeline expired after his and my great grandmothers death in 2018 - who I also liked to doodle with when I was younger - and with them a big part of my passion for traditional art got lost.
I couldn‘t pick up a pencil anymore, because it reminded me too much about them and our time spent together. But I wanted to keep that part of them in me alive, so I made the decision to switch from the traditional medium to digital art a little over a year later, in 2019.
It is to this day one of the hardest things to talk about for me, but it is also what makes me and my art today, what I am and what it is.
And I will forever be grateful for the role these two people played in my life, and am honored to keep their spirit alive in my own way, this way.

But I am not just creating my silly little drawings in a dark corner of my room, all alone. I have my cats, who are always with me when I work and who I love more than anything. If you look on the side here, you will see my furr babies Muffin - the oldest, 10 years - and Ellie - the youngest, 2 years. They drive me up the wall every day, but they make up for it with all the love that I get in return.

Speaking of my little dark corner. It‘s actually not that dark.
This is my set-up, for anyone interested:

I write and design on my mac, I mostly draw on my iPad pro using procreate and I have recently bought a Huion Kamvas 22 plus because I wanted to experiment with drawing in photoshop and other programs outside of procreate.

While I am not reading, illustrating or designing - which I aquired my degree for in 2024 after my professional training that lasted three years, in a marketing firm here in Germany - I am most likely lounging while binge watching movies or a series, or I attend my over 60 plants that surround me like my own personal jungle in this apartment. I never had much of a green thumb before, until I randomly tried to keep a succulent alive sometime in 2022 and it survived. So naturally it escalated and became an obsession, duh.

If you‘d like to know anything more about me or what I do, you are always welcome to slide into my dm‘s and start a conversation with me. I‘m really friendly, I promise! I work a lot and constantly try to find the right balance between my work, my freelancing, time for friends and also myself - so I might not always be the most talkative, but I always enjoy a nice little chat and love to get to know people and connect!

So thanks for stopping by and maybe we‘ll talk soon!
